Emergency Specialist – Resilience Coordinator (P-3) – Niamey, Niger

About the role
The Emergency Specialist – Resilience Coordinator will support UNICEF’s Sahel Resilience Project in Niger. Reporting to the Deputy Representative Programme, the incumbent will design, implement and monitor community‑based resilience programmes that reduce vulnerability of children and women to disasters and shocks.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and lead community resilience initiatives, including risk and vulnerability assessments.
- Provide technical assistance on capacity‑building, disaster risk reduction, climate‑change adaptation and peace‑building.
- Coordinate multi‑sectoral and inter‑agency programming with UN partners, donors, government officials and other stakeholders.
- Monitor, evaluate and report on programme performance and impact.
- Facilitate knowledge sharing and communication with central and decentralized teams.
Required profile
- Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in social sciences, disaster risk reduction, resilience or related fields.
- Minimum five years of progressive experience in resilience, DRR, emergency preparedness, peace‑building or post‑disaster recovery, preferably in complex, high‑risk or conflict‑affected settings.
- Demonstrated ability to work in multicultural, multi‑sector environments and to build effective partnerships.
Required skills
- Knowledge of resilience, disaster risk reduction, climate‑change adaptation and peace‑building concepts.
- Experience conducting risk and vulnerability assessments.
- Ability to provide technical guidance and capacity‑building support.
