Agro-Processing and Enterprise Development Specialist

About the role

We are seeking an Agro-Processing and Enterprise Development Specialist to lead the installation and operation of solar‑powered agro‑processing units in Niger and to support value‑chain development for cowpea and peanuts. The role will involve training women and youth, strengthening producer organisations, and contributing to nutrition and climate‑resilience outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Install and operationalise 25 solar‑powered agro‑processing units.
• Develop at least five value‑added products from cowpea and peanuts.
• Train 600 women and youth on processing, quality, hygiene, packaging, storage, business management and market linkages.
• Support 40 community relays and six municipal health workers.
• Establish 15 Community Nutrition Monitoring and Vigilance Groups.
• Assess and strengthen local institutions, producer organisations and entrepreneurs through training and public‑private dialogue.
• Diagnose financial barriers and design financial inclusion mechanisms.
• Produce high‑quality reports, evidence and hand‑over documentation.

Required profile

• Proven experience in agro‑processing, value‑chain development or rural enterprise development.
• Demonstrated ability to work with women‑led and youth‑led groups in low‑resource settings.
• Strong understanding of climate‑smart agricultural practices and nutrition‑focused interventions.
• Excellent communication and facilitation skills for training and stakeholder engagement.
• Fluency in English; French proficiency is an advantage.
