Emergency Specialist (Resilience Coordinator) – P-3 (9‑month TA)

About the role
The Resilience Coordinator will lead the design and implementation of community resilience programmes in Niger, supporting children and women affected by disasters and shocks. Reporting to the Deputy Representative Programme, the role combines technical expertise, capacity‑building and strategic representation.
Key responsibilities
- Design and implement community‑based resilience interventions.
- Lead capacity‑building initiatives for partners and local stakeholders.
- Conduct risk and vulnerability assessments to inform mitigation strategies.
- Provide technical advice on drivers of vulnerability, climate adaptation and post‑disaster recovery.
- Develop and test methods to strengthen community resilience.
- Represent UNICEF in technical, managerial and strategic meetings with UN agencies, donors, government officials and other stakeholders.
- Deliver technical assistance, coordinate activities, monitor and evaluate results, and report progress.
- Foster partnerships and communication with relevant actors.
Required profile
- Master’s degree or equivalent in social sciences, resilience, disaster risk reduction or related fields.
- Minimum 5 years progressive experience in resilience, DRR, emergency preparedness, peacebuilding or post‑disaster recovery.
- Demonstrated field experience in complex, high‑risk or conflict‑affected environments.
Required skills
- Strong knowledge of resilience, DRR, climate‑change adaptation and peacebuilding.
- Understanding of social‑sector strengthening within UNICEF programmes.
- Ability to coordinate multi‑sectoral, inter‑agency programmes.
- Proven capacity to build effective relationships in fast‑paced, multicultural settings.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills.
