Agro-Processing and Enterprise Development Specialist

About the role

The specialist will support the implementation of a climate‑smart agro‑processing programme in Niger, focusing on solar‑powered processing units, value‑added product development, and capacity building for women and youth.

Key responsibilities

• Install and operationalize 25 solar‑powered agro‑processing units.
• Develop at least five value‑added products from cowpea and peanuts.
• Train 600 women and youth on processing, quality, hygiene, packaging, storage, business management, and market linkages.
• Support 40 community relays and six municipal health workers.
• Establish 15 Community Nutrition Monitoring and Vigilance Groups.
• Strengthen local institutions, producer organisations and entrepreneurs through assessments, training and public‑private dialogue.
• Diagnose financial barriers and design financial inclusion mechanisms for women and youth entrepreneurs.
• Produce high‑quality reports, evidence and hand‑over documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (BAC+4 or 5) in a relevant field.
• Minimum three years of experience in agro‑processing, value‑chain development or related sectors.
• Experience assessing processing opportunities, supporting small‑scale unit installation and facilitating market linkages.
