Assistant Controller

About the role

Wave is building a cash‑less Africa and needs a senior finance professional to help scale its operations in Niger. As Assistant Controller you will support the Finance unit, ensure compliance with local regulations, and strengthen accounting controls while working from the Niamey office.

Key responsibilities

• Represent the Finance function to external stakeholders, including regulators and auditors.
• Review, monitor and record company financial transactions.
• Interpret and apply Nigerien financial, legal and regulatory requirements.
• Develop and enforce accounting policies and procedures.
• Manage the external audit relationship and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
• Lead, recruit, train and mentor the Finance team.
• Collaborate with Product Managers to align new products with accounting and tax considerations.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in auditing, accounting or corporate finance.
• Proven experience with financial reporting and regulatory frameworks in Niger.
• Successful track record handling statutory tax audits.
• Full professional fluency in French and English.
