Social Policy Officer – Tahoua, Niger

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a Social Policy Officer to provide technical support for social policy programming and advocacy in the Tahoua Zone Office, Niger. Working under the guidance of a supervisor, you will contribute to the design, implementation and monitoring of policies that improve child welfare.

Key responsibilities

• Support strategic planning, formulation and delivery of social policy programmes aimed at reducing child poverty.
• Strengthen social protection coverage and assess its impact on children.
• Improve transparency, equity and efficiency of child‑focused public investments and financial management.
• Enhance governance, decentralisation and accountability to increase public participation in social services.
• Collaborate with government, civil‑society partners and UNICEF teams in education, health, child protection, water & sanitation and HIV.

Required profile

• University degree in Economics, Public Policy, Social Sciences, International Relations, Political Science or a related field.
• Minimum two years of relevant professional experience.
• Experience working in emergency or challenging settings.
• Fluency in French is mandatory.
• Knowledge of another UN language (Arabic, Chinese, English, Russian, Spanish) or a local language is desirable.
