WASH Officer (Emergency) – Temporary Appointment

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a WASH Officer (Emergency) on a temporary appointment to support the country programme in Niamey, Niger. The officer will work under the Chief of WASH to deliver technical and operational assistance across the full WASH cycle, from planning to evaluation, ensuring effective humanitarian response.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and plan WASH interventions in line with UNICEF’s country programme and national priorities.
• Manage and monitor implementation of WASH activities, tracking results and reporting progress.
• Provide technical and operational support for water, sanitation and hygiene projects, including emergency preparedness and response.
• Coordinate networking and partnership building with government, NGOs and other stakeholders.
• Promote innovation, knowledge management and capacity‑building initiatives within the WASH team.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Water and Sanitation Engineering, Water and Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering or Public Health Engineering.
• Minimum two years of progressively responsible experience in WASH programming.
