Project Officer – Labour & Human Development (Internal Mobility)

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking an experienced Project Officer to lead the Labour and Human Development (LHD) portfolio of the IDEE project in Niger. Reporting to the Chief of Mission and working closely with the Regional Technical Specialist in Dakar, the officer will coordinate project activities that aim to increase economic opportunities for Nigerien youth and provide alternatives to irregular migration.

Key responsibilities

• Implement the IDEE project in line with donor‑approved documents, contracts, and IOM financial and donor standards.
• Monitor the General Operational Plan (POG) and annual operational plans (POA) as required by the donor.
• Coordinate project teams across the four implementation regions.
• Maintain liaison with NGOs/CSOs to deliver vocational training and start‑up development activities, ensuring regular monitoring and evaluation.
• Research and document emerging labour migration trends in Niger, drafting briefs, proposals and other written materials to support resource mobilisation.
• Supervise project support staff and ensure effective communication with government counterparts and the donor.

Required profile

• Experience in project implementation and coordination within labour, migration or human development contexts.
• Familiarity with donor reporting requirements and IOM internal procedures.
• Proven ability to supervise staff and manage multi‑regional teams.
• Strong analytical skills for researching migration trends and preparing briefing documents.
