GHS, Surveillance & Laboratory Digitalization Specialist

About the role

The GHS, Surveillance & Laboratory Digitalization Specialist strengthens data systems supporting global health security in Niger. The role leads surveillance data governance, quality assessments, 7‑1‑7 timeliness monitoring and the functional implementation of laboratory digitisation tools.

Key responsibilities

• Agree on GHS data‑governance framework, identifier matrix, DQA protocol and 7‑1‑7 timestamp definitions with DSRE and DLS.
• Conduct four surveillance DQA/7‑1‑7 review cycles, document findings and manage corrective actions.
• Lead functional implementation of STELab and LabBook, including workflows, unique sample identification and traceability.
• Provide functional requirements and validation for the STELab/LabBook–OpenFn–DHIS2 interface and support user‑acceptance testing.
• Train laboratory and CSI users, verify competency and support ongoing supervision in regions and districts.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in public health, epidemiology, laboratory sciences, health informatics or related field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in epidemiological surveillance, laboratory information systems or global health security programs.
• Strong knowledge of IDSR, event‑based and indicator‑based surveillance, the 7‑1‑7 target and Early Action Reviews.
• Fluency in French and working knowledge of English.
