Field Security Officer (Expedited Recruitment)

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) seeks a Field Security Officer to support its mission in the country office. Reporting to the Chief of Mission and under the technical supervision of the Regional Security Officer, the incumbent will manage security risk, ensure safety of personnel and assets, and coordinate security‑related activities across IOM programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert security risk management support, develop and test warden systems, and ensure compliance with UN Security Risk Management Measures.
• Maintain liaison with UN, government and partner security officials to obtain up‑to‑date security information and advise senior management on threat mitigation.
• Prepare and deliver country‑specific security training, briefings and seminars for staff and coordinate travel security requirements.
• Support the development and testing of the Country Office Business Continuity Plan and emergency communications systems.
• Supervise Field Security Associates and monitor deployment ceilings in coordination with the UN Designated Official.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Security Management, International Relations, Law or related field with at least five years relevant experience, or a university degree with seven years experience.
• Minimum five years of progressively responsible experience in security, risk, crisis or emergency management, preferably in an international or humanitarian context.
• Fluency in English and French (oral and written) is required.
• UNDSS security certifications (e.g., SCP, SAPP, HIM, TDC, SSAFE) are desirable.
