Construction Officer (NO-2) – Infrastructure Projects, Niamey

About the role

UNICEF Niger is recruiting two Construction Officers (grade NO-2) in Niamey, Niger, on a temporary appointment. The posts give technical support to the planning, design, tendering, supervision and follow-up of UNICEF's construction and infrastructure projects in health, education, nutrition, hygiene, water, sanitation and child protection. The work ensures that completed infrastructure meets quality, accessibility, safety, durability and programme needs.

Key responsibilities

• Support the planning, design, tendering, supervision and follow-up of construction projects
• Prepare technical documents and support acquisition and execution of works
• Contribute to achieving results for children and beneficiary communities

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in construction management, civil engineering, construction engineering, architecture, structural or environmental engineering, or a related field
• 2 years of relevant experience in construction, project management, procurement of works, contract management, site supervision, quality assurance, health and safety, environmental and social safeguards, stakeholder coordination, infrastructure planning, cost estimation or similar
• Proficiency in French; knowledge of English or a local language is an asset
• Humanitarian context experience and country-level experience in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts are desirable
