Child Protection Officer – Fixed Term – Niamey, Niger

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a Child Protection Officer on a fixed‑term appointment to support the design, implementation and monitoring of child protection programmes in Niger. Reporting to the supervisor, the officer will contribute to delivering results that safeguard children’s rights across the country.

Key responsibilities

• Support programme development, planning and budgeting for child protection interventions.
• Manage and monitor programme implementation, ensuring timely delivery of results.
• Provide technical and operational assistance throughout the project cycle.
• Build and maintain partnerships with government, NGOs and other stakeholders.
• Promote innovation, knowledge management and capacity‑building activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in international development, human rights, psychology, sociology, international law or a related social science.
• Minimum two years of professional experience in social development planning and management in child protection.
• Fluency in French.
• Working knowledge of English is desirable.

Required skills

• Child protection programme management.
• Monitoring and evaluation of development projects.
