Child Protection Officer – Fixed Term – Niamey, Niger

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a Child Protection Officer to join its team in Niamey, Niger on a fixed‑term basis. The officer will support the design, implementation and monitoring of child protection programmes within the country’s Country Programme, ensuring interventions are effective and aligned with UNICEF’s objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the development and planning of child protection strategies and activities.
• Provide technical and operational support throughout programme implementation, including monitoring and reporting.
• Coordinate with partners, government agencies and other stakeholders to strengthen protection networks.
• Contribute to knowledge management, innovation and capacity‑building initiatives.
• Support the preparation of results‑oriented documentation and ensure compliance with UNICEF standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in international development, human rights, psychology, sociology, international law or a related social science.
• Minimum two years of professional experience in social development planning and management, preferably in child protection.
• Fluency in French; working knowledge of English is desirable.
• Demonstrated commitment to UNICEF’s core values of care, respect, integrity, trust, accountability and sustainability.
