Social & Behavior Change Officer (Fixed-Term) – Maradi, Niger

About the role

The Social & Behavior Change Officer will support UNICEF’s country programme in Niger by designing, managing and evaluating evidence‑based, inclusive and innovative social and behaviour change (SBC) strategies. Working under the guidance of the Chief Field Office, the officer will help ensure that interventions reach the most vulnerable children and communities.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop SBC strategies aligned with UNICEF’s country programme objectives.
• Manage the implementation of SBC activities, ensuring they are inclusive and evidence‑based.
• Monitor and evaluate the impact of SBC interventions and adjust approaches as needed.
• Collaborate with partners, government agencies and local stakeholders to promote behaviour change.
• Provide technical advice on communication for development and behavioural science.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a social or behavioural science (e.g., sociology, anthropology, communication for development, psychology).
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in social development programme planning, communication for development, SBC, public advocacy or related fields.
• Fluency in French is required; English is an asset.
• Experience in UN system agencies, fragile or humanitarian contexts is considered an asset.
