Resident Coordinator – UN Development System (Niger)

About the role

The Resident Coordinator (RC) is the highest‑ranking United Nations representative in Niger, responsible for leading the UN Country Team and ensuring coordinated implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework and the 2030 Agenda.

Key responsibilities

• Represent the United Nations at senior government levels and engage with civil society, bilateral and multilateral partners, academia and the private sector.
• Lead the development, monitoring and reporting of the UN Cooperation Framework in close consultation with the host government.
• Coordinate system‑wide UN support to Niger, fostering preventive and strategic approaches to development challenges.
• Ensure accountability and performance of UN agencies operating in the country through a matrixed dual‑reporting model.
• Report annually to the Secretary‑General and to the Nigerien government on the implementation of the Cooperation Framework.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in international development, public policy or diplomatic coordination.
• Proven ability to lead multi‑agency teams and manage complex stakeholder relationships.
• Deep understanding of the Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills, with fluency in English; knowledge of French is an advantage.
