Nutrition and Community Development Specialist

About the role

The Nutrition and Community Development Specialist will support the implementation of a climate‑smart agricultural programme in the Dakoro and Gazaoua departments of Niger. The role combines technical support for agro‑processing, capacity‑building for women and youth, and coordination with health and local authorities.

Key responsibilities

• Install and operationalize 25 solar‑powered agro‑processing units in Dakoro and Gazaoua.
• Develop at least five value‑added products from cowpea and peanuts.
• Train 600 women and youth on processing, quality, hygiene, packaging, storage, business management and market linkages.
• Train and support 40 community relays and six municipal health workers and establish 15 Community Nutrition Monitoring and Vigilance Groups.
• Strengthen local producer organisations and entrepreneurs through assessments, training and public‑private dialogue.
• Diagnose financial barriers and design financial‑inclusion mechanisms for women and youth.
• Produce high‑quality reports, evidence and handover documentation for the programme.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (BAC+4 or 5) in a relevant field.
• Minimum three years of experience in nutrition‑sensitive agriculture, community training or related development work.
• Experience developing training modules and delivering behaviour‑change communication on nutrition.
• Ability to coordinate with health services, local authorities and multi‑stakeholder groups.
