Economic Affairs Officer – Sub‑Regional Office West Africa

About the role

The Economic Affairs Officer will support the Sub‑Regional Office for West Africa (SRO‑WA) in delivering research, analysis and policy advice that contributes to structural transformation and inclusive development across the region. Reporting to the senior Economic Affairs Officer (P‑4), the incumbent will work closely with the Sub‑Regional Initiatives Teams and senior management.

Key responsibilities

• Develop socio‑economic databases and qualitative information for recurrent and ad‑hoc assignments.
• Apply and adapt econometric models to identify trends, patterns and policy impacts.
• Draft inputs for technical papers and analytical studies on global, regional, national or sectoral economic development.
• Monitor and analyse policy proposals related to assigned topics.
• Participate in international, regional and national meetings to gather information and engage with peers.
• Assist in organising expert group meetings, seminars and other development‑focused events.
• Prepare speeches and presentation inputs for senior staff.
• Prepare inputs for reports to intergovernmental bodies and summarize meeting outcomes.
• Support the organisation of panels, round‑tables and other intergovernmental dialogues.
