Child Protection Officer (Violence Against Children/Justice)

About the role

The Child Protection Officer will support UNICEF’s country programme in Niger by providing technical, operational and administrative assistance for child protection initiatives, especially those addressing violence against children and justice issues. Reporting to the Child Protection Specialist, the officer will work across the full programme cycle from planning to results delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the development and planning of child protection programmes, ensuring alignment with UNICEF’s strategic objectives.
• Manage programme implementation, monitoring progress, and preparing regular performance reports.
• Provide technical guidance to field teams on protection standards, case management, and safeguarding protocols.
• Coordinate with government agencies, NGOs, and community partners to strengthen protection networks.
• Support innovation and knowledge sharing by documenting best practices and lessons learned.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree in social sciences, law, child protection or a related field.
• Experience working on child protection, violence prevention, or justice programmes in a humanitarian context.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable recommendations.
• Excellent communication and partnership‑building abilities.

Required skills

• Knowledge of international child protection standards and the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
• Familiarity with programme monitoring tools and data management.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite for reporting and documentation.
