Child Protection Officer – UNICEF Niamey

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a Child Protection Officer to join its Country Programme in Niamey, Niger. Reporting to the Chief, Child Protection, the officer will provide technical, operational and administrative support across the full programme cycle, from planning to results delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Support the development and planning of child protection programmes, ensuring alignment with UNICEF’s equity strategy.
• Manage programme implementation, monitoring progress, and delivering results in line with project objectives.
• Provide technical and operational assistance to field activities, including coordination, reporting and evaluation.
• Build and maintain partnerships with government, NGOs and other stakeholders to strengthen child protection networks.
• Contribute to innovation, knowledge management and capacity‑building initiatives within the country team.

Required profile

• Relevant higher‑education degree in social sciences, law, public administration or a related field.
• Experience in child protection, civil registration or related humanitarian programmes.
• Strong understanding of UNICEF’s child rights framework and equity approach.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills, with ability to work in a multicultural environment.

Required skills

• Knowledge of child protection standards and best practices.
• Familiarity with civil registration systems.
• Proficiency in data collection, monitoring and reporting tools.
