Child Protection Officer (Civil Status) – Fixed Term

About the role

The Child Protection Officer (Civil Status) provides professional technical, operational and administrative support for UNICEF's child protection programmes in Niger. Reporting to the Chief, Child Protection, the officer contributes throughout the programme cycle – from planning and development to implementation, monitoring and reporting of results.

Key responsibilities

• Support programme development and planning, including needs assessments and workplan preparation.
• Manage programme implementation, ensuring timely delivery of activities and results.
• Monitor progress, conduct evaluations and prepare regular reports for stakeholders.
• Provide technical and operational guidance to field teams on child protection standards and civil registration processes.
• Build and maintain partnerships with government agencies, NGOs and community groups.
• Identify and promote innovative approaches to strengthen child protection interventions.

Required profile

• Relevant professional experience in child protection, preferably within an international or humanitarian context.
• Understanding of civil registration and vital statistics systems.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse partners and stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills.
