Humanitarian Operations Technical Advisor I (Remote, Africa)

About the role

The Humanitarian Operations Technical Advisor I provides deployable technical and operational support for Catholic Relief Services’ rapid emergency response programme across several West and Central African countries. The role focuses on strengthening supply chain functions, including procurement, logistics and the establishment of emergency sub‑offices, both remotely and on‑site.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver rapid, in‑country surge support during humanitarian emergencies, applying expertise in procurement, logistics and supply‑chain processes.
• Assist in the planning, implementation and close‑out of emergency operations, ensuring alignment with CRS standards and donor requirements.
• Support the set‑up and strengthening of emergency sub‑offices and related operational functions.
• Collaborate with technical departments such as HR, finance, security, ICT, administration and fleet management to ensure integrated response.
• Contribute to operational learning, guidance implementation and capacity‑building for CRS country programmes and partners.

Required profile

• Proven experience in humanitarian emergency response and supply‑chain management.
• Strong knowledge of procurement and logistics processes in resource‑constrained environments.
• Ability to provide remote and on‑site technical assistance and to work under tight timelines.
• Familiarity with CRS operational standards and donor compliance requirements.
