Social Policy Officer (Fixed-Term) – Tahoua, Niger

About the role

The Social Policy Officer will provide technical support for UNICEF’s social policy programming in the Tahoua zone of Niger. Working under the guidance of a supervisor, the officer will help shape policies that reduce child poverty, improve social protection, and ensure transparent, equitable public investments for children.

Key responsibilities

• Improve data collection and analysis on child poverty and vulnerability to inform policy and programme decisions.
• Strengthen the coverage and impact of social protection programmes for children.
• Enhance the use of public financial resources to benefit children, promoting transparency and efficiency.
• Build capacity of local governments to plan, budget, consult on, and monitor child‑focused social services.
• Lead advocacy and partnership initiatives to promote child‑sensitive social policies.

Required profile

• University degree in Economics, Public Policy, Social Sciences, International Relations, Political Science or a related field.
• Minimum two years of relevant professional experience, preferably in challenging or emergency settings.
• Fluency in French is mandatory.
